Tina has decided to write a novel in the Nano Writing Contest.
In the meantime, here is a taste of something in Hidden Fantasies of Summer.
Tremors
She feels them when she least expects it...like little
movements of the earth that were the norm in
California. Only here there are no earthquakes...just
tremors when a touch makes both people aware of
whom they are...a woman...and a man.
She likes the way they make her feel...reminding
her that she's a woman...that someone finds her
attractive...that someone would push the envelope if
she would be willing.
Like at the local speedway. When her nephew's car
hits the finish line first just as the flag lowers, and
she is so exuberant. She screams and hugs her
friends and one of them holds onto the hug just a
little longer and they look into each other's eyes.
But then the crowd's excitement takes over and the
moment is gone.
Tremors.
Like at the mall when she runs into a friend from
church. She's not in a dress, he's not in a suit and
tie...just two people in jeans out with their kids...he
has his for the weekend...she has hers. Of course
being teenagers in the same youth program, they
run off together so the two friends grab a cup of
coffee.
"How has your summer been?"
"Good. Ready for school to start?"
"Yes."
Out of the blue he asks her about seeing a movie
that's been all the rage over the summer.
"No, I haven't seen that."
"Would you like to?"
Just as the kids run up and ask for money to get a
snack and the moment is gone.
Tremors.
Out dancing with friends...at the sporting goods
store...a man she doesn't know putting the gas in her
car...all sharing eye contact and a moment of
tremors. Leaning in to ask what her perfume
is...leaning in to remove a piece of lint from her
hair...leaning in for a kiss.
Tremors.
Tremors are good. They make her aware of who she
is and where she's at. They make her feel good
about herself and about life. Light flirtations abound
all around both off and online. Tremors are little
warning signs that something could most definitely
happen if both parties are willing. Tremors are filled
with excitement and a touch of fear...wondering
where it will go and how it will end.
She's not too concerned, though. When one of them
melts her butter...THAT'S when the tremors will
turn into earthquakes!

What Tina Knows
Tina knows that if you want a guy? You don't chase after him.
There's a guy I like? But so does half the county if not more. So I play it cool. I go on a date with a slightly younger man than myself. The guy I like? Slightly older than me. We are friends and we have a lot in common. However, I've been down this road before...where one of us likes the other more. That's what I thought anyway.
He tells me I'm a busy person, that I stay active because I don't want to be in a relationship. (He's not that smart, either, is he?).
So he calls me up and asks me to go to a club. That night. I tell him no. He said why not? I said because I made a date.
Break it.
No.
He said, fine. I know where I stand. (He said it teasingly...I think)
I go on the date. It's dinner, a nice place. The guy is in his mid-thirties, tall, attractive. You would have thought he was from the fifties the way he treated me with the door openings and the attention. I won't lie. I was impressed.
Then we went to a movie. He put one arm around my seat and held my hand with his other one. He whispered to me, asking if I was comfortable. He told me he loved my perfume. He told me my hair was soft and beautiful. He told me he was glad I had finally said yes to a date because he had liked me for awhile.
We had fun. He dropped me off at home, walked me up to the porch to the sound of my ferocious dog barking through the door, and asked if he could see me the next night. I told him I had a deadline to meet and possibly family over. Since he knows I'm a writer he understood.
He asked for a raincheck. I said yes. A few minutes later, he sent me a text telling me it was one of the greatest evenings he had spent on a date and hoped to see me soon.
I slept good that night. The past has been laid to rest in Tina's world. The present is an open roadd to the future and I am up for the journey.
The next morning, about 10:30, I got a text from the guy I really like. He wanted to know if he could call me. I said yes. He did and asked about the date. I told him it was fun and that we were planning to go out again.
He asked me out. Not just as friends. I told him no for Saturday night. He asked if my writing group was meeting Monday. I said no. We made plans to get together.
We're just friends, though. But still, isn't it a shame that we have to play guy games to get the ones we like to ask us out? Only now? I'm kinda looking forward to the second date with the other guy. We really did have a lot of fun.

Welcome to the World of Tina DeLane
My world is full of imagination and creativity. I love to live and live to love. I have put my passion and my soul into writing and I now invite you into my world. I hope you enjoy my little stories as much as I enjoyed writing them.
How many of us go through life just living and not existing? I don't do that. I don't WANT to do that. Life is full of mystery and romance and adventure and you only have to open yourself up to the opportunities it gives you and you'll live life like never before.
Fall into your imagination and pick up one of my books. You'll see what I mean.
